WWASC was started as an outlet for the ASCA stockdog program in Utah in
1995. The club put on a few trials and many sheep fun matches. WWASC went
inactive after about a year, until we decided to bring the NADAC/ASCA agility
program to Utah in 2002. The club had three hundred dollars from stockdog fun
matches in the bank which we used to bankroll our first trial. Our first trial
was at Lynnleigh Farms piggybacking on an AKC trial over the Labor Day weekend.
Coleen Hawker donated her equipment, and helped us with some of the expenses. We
cleared our expenses and made enough money to put on another trial. From there
the rest is history.
Today WWASC hosts many events that include 3 Agility Trials, 8 Obedience Trials, 3 Rally Trials and 1 Stock Dog Trial. In addition to competitions we hosted 2 seminars this year. In January, 2014 we hosted Steve Shoppe and Herding Clinic. In July we brought in Christine Zink from Maryland who talked about the Canine Athlete.
Beginning founders were Canby Scott, Robyn Johnson-Garrett, Brian and Gina Peterson, Ray Coddington, and Cherrie Cannon. Agility enthusiasts were Robyn Johnson-Garrett, Coleen Hawker, Christa Beauchat, Edie Shoepp, Barb Petty.
